Our mission is to create life-long learners. We provide access to a diverse collection of information as well as encourage students to become critical thinkers and let inquiry guide their learning experience. We work to promote the ethical use of technology as our students explore the vast world around them.

Maycomb High Library Vision Statement:
Our library media program strives to be the center of intellectual growth and achievement here at this institution. Our goal is to promote information literacy through collaborating with staff members, developing instructional resources, and fostering instructional relationships with all curricular areas. Students will experience the joy of learning in an atmosphere that promotes reading and celebrates expression of thought. It is the goal that all students and staff become lifelong learners and effective participants with the world of information around them.
My Goals and Philosophy:
It is my personal goal to do my best to help our students become life-long, independent learners who are capable of critical thought. I make my best efforts to ensure that collaboration occurs with classroom teachers across the content areas, so I may help develop students' information literacy skills.
The American Association of School Librarians has established Standards for the 21st Century Learner, a document by which I design my lessons as well as incorporate these aspects into collaborative units. These standards help me in providing your students with the skills that they need to be successful learners in the ever-changing world around them.
Being a classroom teacher has only helped to shape me into an educator who believes in the opinions of our students. When given the proper tools to use information in ways that best suit their needs, I feel that they are capable of producing truly great things.
